One of mankind’s great discoveries is fire.
Primitive beings would have used it for warmth, cooking and protection among other things. In fact there is evidence that supports theories that fire was used in a controlled manner some 125 000 years ago.
Today, despite the occasional hiccup, we are much better at burning things in a controlled manner. Such as this pizza oven, which is happy cruising at about 700 degrees celsius – perfect pizza cooking temperature.
Watching the orange glow and the dance of embers in a fireplace is also wonderfully mesmerising … but not in a pyromaniacal sense.
