Here we have 5 sets of brand new school shoes. They are being worn by 5 excited children about to start their first day of school.
The shoes are also approximately 5 minutes away from never being as new as they are in this photo. While the children mingle and play, parents anxiously await imminent First Day of School instructions.
The common black school shoe is a legacy started by James and Cyrus Clarke in 1825, when they decided to make slippers in their Somerset tannery. I’m not sure they could foresee that virtually every school kid would be wearing their logo within a couple of hundred years, but they seem to have the school shoe market cornered.
