I love this photo.
Over the last couple of years I’ve tried not to gloat, but sometimes when you press the shutter button you know you’ve done something special – if not just for yourself.
It might just be that an amazing day at a friends property was drawing to a close. The sun was in decline and the afternoon breeze was on the rise. It was almost perfect conditions for kite flying.
I’m in awe of the vast nothingness in the photo – seemingly nothing in any direction, cloudless skies and a kite, itself a symbol of boundless freedom, flying without fear of hindrance.
And as the song goes, with virtually nothing stopping the girls, we could have sent this kite “up to the highest height” without worrying another soul.
