January 4th – Early start

Smiths Lane, Bentley

An early start to the day. Just ourselves, some fine rain, the odd kangaroo (foreground), and a cattle trough requiring some TLC.

Shoulder-high grass in paddocks is a picturesque sight. A year ago to the day this part of the world was sweltering in 40+ degree heat. Today the mercury is barely eclipsing a temperature barely half of last years mark.

Like the saying goes – “Take a picture, it lasts longer”. Many of the locals have never seen the countryside like this before, and considering many of them have spent their lives here, it feels special to have captured it in this state this morning.
