April 29th – Taking ones own advice

Nothing good can come from this

Another photo of the storm that turned Sydney’s inner west into a winter wonderland.

I’m above the Henley ferry wharf, looking west along the Parramatta River. The dark clouds came from the west, it was still bright behind me which gave that pre-storm eeriness.

Moments after this photo the icy wind came through and the river was whipped into a frenzy.

The advice heeded was how to reduce ‘noise’ in Lightroom. I recalled the details in this article from PhotoFocus that I linked to on April 26th, and followed the steps. I’d tried and given up previously, but I hadn’t truly utilised the magnification window. It was the big difference.

The key advice though was work out the Colour noise first, before turning your attention to Luminance.
