This photo was taken during our visit to the amazing Cockatoo Island at the end of the January.
This is an HDR photo taken inside the Dogleg Tunnel – a 187 metre long, 3 metre wide tunnel excavated through the sandstone running between the eastern and southern aprons of the industrial island.
I’ve probably mentioned before, but I find that HDR is beneficial, or even excels, in these mid-light environments. This shot also highlights the benefit of an ultra-portable tripod.
The Dogleg Tunnel was built in 1915, and initially horse and cart were employed to pull equipment and personnel. Later in life the Dogleg Tunnel doubled as a bomb shelter during World War II.
