Today I had a few minutes up my sleeve, so I decided to change my modus operandi. I sat down for a few minutes and checked stuff out in Martin Place.
It was then I noticed the way the light was catching 51 Martin Place. It really made a dull building look much more interesting, almost Escher-like, though the cynic in me suggests thats probably coincidence.
If I’ve learned one thing in the past year, it’s that pretty much every building in the CBD has a history. This often dates back generations, includes significant engineering feats, or influence from a prominent architect or designer.
Then there’s 51 Martin Place, Sydney. Not even my best Google’ing could turn anything up for this place. Is no one willing to take responsibility?
Aside from playing host to Tiffany’s and the Martin Place Bar, there’s not a lot to report about this building (though any input welcome!).
