This photo was taken in Hawks Nest, specifically from Jimmy’s Beach near the caravan park, and the eastern-most point of Port Stephens.
I can’t recall that I’ve ever been to Port Stephens before, and the closest I’ve come to Hawks Nest was the road into town, left turn and on to Mungo Brush. And that was 20 years ago.
Safe to say, not a lot has changed since then.
In terms of timing, I didn’t have much to spare. With 20 minutes to go until ‘Sunset’, the sun dipped behind a thick blanket of fog and cloud.
I was lucky enough to capture two shots of the golden sunset before setting up the tripod, but there was no pink sky as the sun dipped below the horizon – it just got darker.
With a hot day forecast for tomorrow and our proximity to the coastline, I’m setting the alarm for an early start.
