October 14th – Batten down the hatches

Swirling Storm

As a kid I never really understood what that phrase means, but repeating it brings back memories of original The Wizard of Oz movie.

This was Monday nights storm, a front that moved across the city from the south-west, bringing with it a huge amount of water in a short space of time.

More recently my daughter returned home from school, telling me about these mysterious “green clouds”, and how you should move away from any windows in the event that the storm is packing some damaging hail.

What a perfect way to demonstrate. We went to the street and watched the stormfront close in, complete with that bluey-greeny hue, before retreating inside as the rain came.

And then onto the couch when we realised we were watching this glued to the largest south-west facing window in the house.
