It’s a birthday, but unless you know there’s probably no point asking.
There’s a couple of reasons. Firstly, it may not be polite. Secondly, you should probably already know. As Oscar Wilde says: One should never trust a woman who tells one her real age. A woman who would tell one that would tell one anything.
The above cake was one of the features of an impromptu celebration for Mum, or Nanny as she’s more commonly called these days.
The cake selection duties were left up to me. There aren’t too many tasks that I would back away from, but not being a big cake eater, picking the right pudding isn’t something I look forward to.
But I think I got it right today. This is bread and butter, raspberry and chocolate cake (from Cavalicious in Gladesville). It was met warmly by all participants.
