The next instalment of Macro Monday.
This St Andrew’s Cross female is the largest in the garden that I’ve found, and possibly the bravest being just a solid Zachary off-drive from oblivion.
On a wider shot you could see that the “X” is now complete with all 4 strands in place. I hadn’t noticed in the past, but this process takes place over several weeks.
Nice and close here with the macro lens, and you can better understand why even arachnophobes would find it hard to be fearful of these spiders. I did manage to get it over-excited as the lens got nearer.
My only regret is that she sits on the web facing away from me.
