April 29th – Little Dune Buggy

Meyers Manx Tail Light

In a day filled with check-ups, drop-ins and drop-offs, I walked past a strikingly coloured Meyers Manx. I know that makes me sound knowledgeable, but I had no idea what it was called until I Google’d it back at home.

Bruce F. Meyers inspired the chassis design of a dune buggy that was built for desert racing in California. Coupled with a Volkswagen engine it broke all sorts of records.

Meyers Manx kits are still readily available locally in Australia for any car enthusiasts looking for a project.

The immediate feature of the Meyers Manx are those big bug-eye headlights, and the short tailless appearance – hence being named after the Manx cat.
