March 15th – History in the making

History in the making

It was a first for many things.

Round 1 of footy for 2014. The first time the GWS Giants have beaten their more established cross-town rivals. A largest home crowd for the Giants. And thanks to an apocalyptic storm, the lengthiest 1st Quarter break I’ve seen.

That storm. I’ll probably upload some more pics (mainly panorama’s) of the before’s and afters for those who didn’t see it in person in Sydney, or live on TV. It was a belter.

There was one moment when the lightning and thunder clap were simultaneous. Minutes later a lightning diffuser, previously perched atop one of the light towers, was collected from the centre of the ground by one of Fox Footy’s ground staff.

In summary: Swans plucked, crowd soaked, Buddy sooked, bloody big win. Never surrender!
