As you may have seen there’s a family of tawny frogmouths in our neighbourhood, but more recently they’ve been feasting upon our garden.
They sit patiently on our washing line with their amazing eyes, and pick off any unsuspecting target. This owl had a crack at something before resting on the fence.
It might explain the recent dip in cicada numbers. I also think there’s a mouse (or 100) that run around the fence-line.
I was quite conscious about taking too many flash-photo’s with their super-sensitive eyes. But it sat patiently while I blind-fired 3 or 4 shots (focus was pure guesswork), and I got lucky on the final attempt.
