February 10 – Bromeliad

Bromeliad

Back into the garden, and I’m reliably informed that this is a Bromeliad.

This is growing in Mum and Dad’s garden, and to make matters more interesting Dad showed an interest in a different type of Bromeliad growing at my place. My advice to him – grab a sample while it’s still there (alive)!

Despite the terrific colours, I don’t know much about Bromeliads, so off to Wiki I went. There wasn’t much to glean, other than they are native to America and part of daily Aztec life, survive pretty much in any conditions, and the pineapple belongs to the bromeliaceae family.
