For the past few years one of the attractions around Hyde Park on Australia Day has been the old double-deckers, doing a loop from Bridge St near Circular Quay, south down Elizabeth St to Eddy Avenue and back.
Having them on the roads is nostalgic and fun and terrific for the kids, but you pretty quickly recall why they’re not missed, although they are making a comeback.
But nostalgia rules. Windows that open, the seat configuration, and the lack of working springs in the seats. Literally breathtaking.
The run down Eddy Ave also reminds me of the lengthy queues, waiting to board the bus to get to the SCG.
